Hand-written Fund of AS RT is one of the largest in Central Asia by amount of its manuscripts, lithographies,  and by their scientific and cultural importance. It serves as the base for scientific researches not only of Tajik scientists, but also as the base for scientific researches of many foreign scientists who work in the field of East Study. During last years the fund of manuscripts keeping in the institute, was  considerably replenished. Now the Fund of East Manuscripts has more than 5750 hand-written books and about 6350 lithographies on Tajik, Persian, Arabian, Turkic, Ivrit, and other languages, which contain more than 30 thousand of various treatises and works on all branches of ancient and medieval science and culture. The most ancient of them are belong to XI-XIIIth centuries. In a particular they are the manuscripts "Tarikhi Tabari" of  Balami, “At-Tafhim-li-Avoil Sanat-ut-Tanzim" of Abduraihon Beruni, "Chemistry of Happiness" of Abuhomid ibn Muhammad Gizoli, "Kulliyot" of Saadi Sherozi, "Sharhi al-Kofiya fi-n-Nahv" of Roziuddin Muhammad al-Astorobody. There are a lot of rare and unique manuscripts, including autographs of authors or single copies of the books, which survived up to present days. We can consider as rare and unique books "Dictionary of Ali Safi" of Fakhriddin Ali Safi (died in 1952), "Book of Victories" of Badriddin Kashmiri (XVIth century), "Book of Wars of History" of Mir Rabe ibni Mir Niyoz (XVIIIth century), "Tarikhi Manzuma" of Imomalii Kunduzi Komi, "Tazkirat-ush-Shuaro" of Hoji Nematulohi Muhtaram,  "Countless Treasures" of Abdurahim Tamkini Bukhoroi (XIXth century), etc.
